In 2017, Thompson Longhorn was approached to design new cattle yards on a greenfield site for backgrounding cattle destined for L&G Meats.

Plans included a pneumatic 360° crowding yard, a curved vee lane, a double-deck dual alley load-out, Monarch MKII restrainer, a fully automated 5-way draft, with the core centre covered by a shade structure. The pneumatic gates are operated by a PLC based control system which integrates with herd management software to selectively separate animals based on pre-determined criteria.
