Box Flat

In 2022, Thompson Longhorn was approached by Cameron Hewitt of Hewitt Pastoral Enterprises to build new yards at their property Box Flat near Wandoan, QLD.

We set to work custom designing these yards to suit the space and capacity suited to their operation. Their core centre comprised of a Monarch MKII restrainer, a pneumatic 5-way draft, a double deck dual lane loading ramp, adjustable curved lane, 360° pneumatic crowding yard, pneumatic slide and yard gates and a 20m x 18m heavy duty shed to cover the core gear.

The pneumatic gates are operated by a PLC based auto drafting control system which integrates with herd management software to selectively separate animals based on pre-determined criteria.
