Biggenden Livestock Exchange

site development

Biggenden Livestock Exchange was a massive project which spanned from June 2018 to completion in March 2019.  Rebuilding saleyards presents many challenges as weekly sales are still in operation and construction must allow for these sales to proceed without interruption.

Construction

The construction of the saleyards was planned in stages to coincide with the demolition of the old yards and the ongoing use of the yards.  This approach to the build allowed for a smooth integration of the new yards with vendors still able to utilise the existing back yards as each stage progressed. The construction was completed on schedule under the supervision of our on-site project manager.  Thompson Longhorn contracted an experienced installation crew, in addition to local trades people, to ensure the timely completion of the project.

Completion

Biggenden Livestock Exchange is a valued client, like all our clients and was able to work with our design team to produce saleyards which provide ease of use to the operators and practical functions for the vendors. On sale days there is a large number of pens with elevated and covered walkways to provide the best experience to buyers and vendors.  The yard and pen size was designed to showcase multiple lots of cattle with large holding areas for sales, in addition to ease of movement and safe handling for operators.
