World Class Facilities For Improved Performance

Everything we do at Thompson Longhorn is focused on helping customers reduce the cost of producing a kilogram of beef. For commercial customers in feedlots this can make a significant difference in their yield.

Our Australian-made products are designed and manufactured to improve animal welfare, create safer workplaces, reduce labour costs and increase processing efficiency. As industry leaders in automated livestock handling equipment, Thompson Longhorn has a proud history of customer-driven collaboration, and our after-sales service is the best available.

Our team use site inspections when starting a project to collect site-specific information such as land topography and landscape images to assist in a seamless design process. This is combined with consultation involving the key operation stakeholders and managers to design facilities which adhere to company workplace health and safety requirements. By choosing Thompson Longhorn our customers are investing in products and services designed to make their businesses better and safer.

Scone Saleyards

World class saleyards were installed in 2019 at Scone. This project included continuing weekly sales during the building of 3 large shade structures and yards.

Maintaining Operations Throughout the Build

It’s counterproductive for your operation to come to a standstill during new development. This will impede productivity and affect profitability. Our experienced project management ensures disruptions to processing are minimised and in many cases, temporary diversions can be set-up while the new yards and handling areas are installed. Our engineering and drafting team work closely with councils, government, corporate and external developers to ensure projects are completed on time, on budget and to the highest standard achievable.

A multi stage plan was created for this project to ensure sales could continue durring construction. This meant that the yard installation was completed in sections and cattle were able to be moved into yards when first stages were completed.

Specialised equipment and INNOVATION

We pride ourselves on the knowledge that there a few, in any other companies in Australian and the world that make specialised equipment that we do. Over years we have adapted our designs to suit clients needs and always have been on the front foot when designing for operator safety and improved animal welfare.

As industry leaders in automated livestock handling equipment, Thompson Longhorn has a proud history of customer-driven collaboration to create system to suit any type or size of operation. In addition this we’ve specialised in designing and manufacturing product to perform tasks which have in the past been unpractical or unsafe, such as the Tipping Restrainer which can safety pivot from vertical to horizontal while holding the animal inside safety and without risking injuries to it or the operator.

Domestic & International Clients

Our products can be found on sites across Australia and internationally, each have varied levels of accessibility. No matter where a site is located we work with the client to understand and create a plan for transport and freight which is suitable for them. For domestic clients who live on rural properties in areas with the local freight business that understand the country and have the ability to get materials and products in on a budget within the local area.

International freight is organised to coincide with the size of a order. We work with our clients on the premise that we are sending them a product that can be assembled using pre-fabricated products and instructions which include design logistics that are followed to ensure accurate building on site. In addition we can organise a staged equipment manufacturing plan, so we can plan the building and shipping of products to be more cost effective and efficient for packing purposes. Any products such as our Restrainers and Cradles are fully assembled, other large products such as crowds, lanes, drafts, loading ramps are pre-fabricated sections and packaged together for ease of installment.
