Beaudesert saleyards

Thompson Longhorn completed the detailed design, fabrication, and installation at Beaudesert for Bartholomew & Co in 2013.

The new build includes 70 selling pens each contain in-built water troughs, while the 11 drafting pens located away from the selling centre are designed to minimise stress on the livestock and make handling easier. Overhead operator's walkway and patron walkway ramps give buyers and visitors ease of access around the facility, multi-tiered non-slip walkways that circle the perimeter of the selling centre giving the auctioneers a superior view, while handrails provide added safety and security.

The majority of the upgrade works were installed on a concrete slab, which helps with wear. This was one of the fastest on-site constructions, with completion only taking six weeks on-site to erect pens and walkways.

Outcomes

  • Reduced labour requirement

  • Improved animal flow

  • Improved safety for both animals and personnel

  • WH&S compliant walkways and steps
