Iranda feedlot

Iranda Beef at Tintinara in South Australia upgraded the Feedlot’s induction facility and arrival yards, along with the load out facility, in 2016.  The induction area included a pneumatic 360° crowd, parallel curved race to the restrainer and a pneumatic 6-way draft.  This is all under a shade structure to make conditions more bearable year-round. A dump ramp adjacent to the induction area allows for quicker unloading of trucks.

The double deck loading ramp at the load-out facility also includes a bud box.  This is designed to encourage the smooth flow of cattle by working with their natural tendency in confined spaces to return from where they came.  However, the entrance to the race is located at a right angle close to the point of entry into the box, and as the stock turn at the end of the bud box they are encouraged to walk around the handler to flow single file into the race.  Knowledge and training in low stress stock handling principles is essential for personnel using this system for it to work effectively.
