Introduction

At Thompson Longhorn we have a fully equipped workshop allowing off site fabrication of equipment. We provide products for both the yard builder and our own installations. Not every thing can be done off site (unless you’re using a portable set of yards) but pre-fabrication benefits include:

• Faster installation (shorter time for return on investment)
• More precise articles
• Other material finish obtainable (e.g. Hot-dip-gal)
• Cost effective

There are a number of things we can offer. The majority of things we can do for you are listed below.

Saw Cutting / Fabrication

Saw cutting, as any yard builder knows, is a tedious and drawn out process. Having the steel pre-cut, where possible, allows a huge time saving. Larger quantities of steel can be pack cut and delivered direct to site.

There are also many of the common engineering workshop fabrication process available, such as drilling, punching etc.

Thompson Longhorn also is able to provide precision NC bending.

Laser cutting / Pressing

As our products utilize the precision and accuracy of these services, we can also provide them to you for your custom component designs. With 3D modelling you can create a virtual prototype and maximize the benefits of these technologies.

Thompson Longhorn has an experienced team of welders along with state of the art Pulse Arc Robotic Welders so we are able to tackle both small and large projects.

Painting / Finishing

Presentation is important to us as is the finish on your yards and the impression created by them. Corrosion is an issue which can shorten the life of your yards. Hot-dip-galvanising of crucial components helps extend the life of your stockyards. However, there is a range of different finishes available depending on application:

• Zinc – rich primer for cleaned welds
  • Applied to Dura gal items.
• Industrial 2 pack painting
  • Hardened paint used commonly on crushes etc.
• Hot-Dip-Galvanizing
  • Thick zinc coating commonly used on our adjustable leg technology
• Cold tar epoxy
  • Corrosion prevention paint

Packing / Crating

Packing and crating is the final stage in getting your products safely and undamaged to your site. Over the years we have improved our methods to achieve this and can manufacture many different crates.
